Vaporesso GTX Go 40, what wears out, what you replace and what the warranty covers
A vape pen is bought once, but it is paid for in parts over its whole life. The Vaporesso GTX Go 40 is no exception, with a coil that wears out, a pod that tires and a battery you cannot swap. Shop listings dwell on output and capacity, rarely on what you will need to buy again or what the manufacturer agrees to take back if something fails. So we go through the kit here, one part at a time.
Vaporesso GTX Go 40, what wears out and what lasts
On the Vaporesso GTX Go 40, the GTX coil is the only true consumable, to be replaced as soon as the flavour fades. The GTX Pod 22 lasts longer, but it is bought separately once it leaks or no longer sits firmly on the battery. The 1500 mAh battery is built into the tube and cannot be replaced, so its end of life is the end of the device.
On the manufacturer side, the warranty runs for 90 days from the purchase date on the invoice and leaves out wear parts once opened or used. It pays to know what each part does before the first fill.
The GTX Go 40 kit parts in one table
The standard box described on the manufacturer’s page holds a battery, a pod, a coil, a cable, a manual and a warranty card. The table sorts them by lifespan and by whether you can replace them.
| Part | Role | Replaceable | Worth knowing |
|---|---|---|---|
| GTX Go 40 battery | 1500 mAh tube, up to 40 W | no, built in | USB-C charging at 5 V and 1 A |
| GTX Pod 22 | magnetic pod tank | yes, sold separately | 3.5 ml standard, 2 ml TPD version |
| GTX 0.6 ohm Mesh coil | heats the e-liquid at 20 to 30 W | yes, consumable | GTX family, 0.1 to 2 ohms accepted |
| USB-C cable | charging | yes, standard type | computer or wall adapter |
| Manual and warranty card | paperwork | not applicable | keep them with the receipt |
The tube stands 110.3 mm tall and 22 mm wide, pod included. Spec sheets often quote 3.5 ml for the pod, which is the standard version sold outside the UK. Refillable tanks are capped at 2 ml in the UK, and the 2 ml TPD version that Vaporesso lists is the one that fits within this limit. Nicotine e-liquid, for its part, comes in 10 ml bottles of up to 20 mg/ml. Check the capacity printed on the box of any spare pod.
The GTX coil, the GTX Go 40 consumable
Coils are bought by the pack and replaced far more often than anything else. Three questions come up every time, when to change one, which value to pick and how to fit it.
When to change the coil
No spec sheet gives a lifespan in days, and with good reason, since it depends on the e-liquid, the output and how often the device is used. The warning signs are well known, a duller flavour, thinner vapour, then a burnt taste. A very sweet recipe usually clogs the wick faster than a light fruit blend.
Which value to choose
The battery accepts 0.1 to 2 ohms and sets its own output from the value it reads, with no menu or setting. The kit leaves the factory with a 0.6 ohm Mesh head, rated at 20 to 30 W. Two retailers advise sticking to GTX coils of 0.3 ohm and above on this tube. They are the same heads as on the Vaporesso GTX One kit, whose wattage ranges differ from one document to another.
Fitting a new coil
The coil pushes into the base of the pod, with no threads, once the pod is off the battery. Wet the cotton with a few drops, fit the head, fill up, then let it rest for around ten minutes before the first puff, as the manuals reproduced online advise.
The GTX Pod 22, a spare part in its own right
It looks as if it should last forever, having no electronics and no cotton. Yet the pod wears through its seals and its fitting, and it is the part to replace when e-liquid gets where it should not.
What it is made of
The GTX Pod 22 is a single block of PCTG, a rigid plastic, with a fixed proprietary mouthpiece under a screw-on top cap. Magnets hold it to the battery, and Vaporesso gives it the leak protection it calls SSS. The fill hole sits at the edge, under a membrane, while the central opening is the chimney.
Filling without wearing the pod
The top cap comes off with a quarter turn, anticlockwise. E-liquid goes into the side opening, never down the chimney, and the coil has to be in place before filling, or the pod will leak. A bottle with a fine nozzle makes the job easier.
When to replace it
A leak from the filling system or a seal, like a fitting that no longer holds, points to the pod rather than the coil. The GTX Pod 22 is sold on its own, and it is the only pod that fits this tube, since the GTX Go 80 uses the wider GTX Pod 26.
GTX Go 40 battery, charging and protections
The 1500 mAh battery is not designed to be replaced by the user, and the manuals ask for any repair to be left to the manufacturer. It charges through a USB-C port opposite the button, at 5 V and 1 A. Published reviews report a full charge in one to one and a half hours.
A light ring around the button shows the charge left, green above 70%, blue between 30 and 70%, red below 30%. Output cuts out after 10 seconds of continuous firing. Unplug the cable once charging is complete, and never leave the device charging unattended.
Vaporesso GTX Go 40 warranty, 90 days and some exclusions
Vaporesso’s warranty page sets a single 90-day period, counted from the purchase date on the invoice, or from the production date when there is no invoice. Retailers show the same length, written as a three-month warranty.
Wear parts are left out. Once opened or used, e-liquid, pods, replacement coils, drip tips, glass sections, atomisers and rechargeable batteries are not taken back, and neither is a modified, cracked or misused product. The page does not spell out how a battery built into the tube, as on the GTX Go 40, is treated, a point worth raising with the seller.
To make a claim, the manufacturer asks for proof of purchase, the product name and quantity, a photo of the serial number and the security code, a description of the fault and photos or a video. The request can go through the shop where you bought it or through the brand’s service team, and checking the file usually takes 5 to 10 days.
Storing and recycling the tube at the end of its life
Between sessions, switch the tube off with five quick presses of the button, as the manuals recommend. Keep it dry, away from heat, direct sunlight and knocks, and never loose alongside keys or coins.
A lithium battery never goes in the household bin. At the end of its life, the whole tube goes to a battery or electrical waste collection point, such as a household waste recycling centre or an in-store battery bin, as the manuals ask.
FAQ
These questions come up among people weighing up this tube or who have just unboxed it.
What do reviews say about the GTX Go 40 kit?
Reviews published at launch, in 2021, praise its simplicity and its leak resistance. One British review scores it 8.3 out of 10, with top marks for build and ease of use. The point most often debated is the output, which cannot be set by hand.
How do you check that a GTX Go 40 is genuine?
The label on the side of the box has a scratch-off panel. It reveals a QR code to scan and a 12 or 14-digit code to enter on Vaporesso’s website, checking the domain name shown. After five entries, the code becomes invalid.
How do you adjust the draw on the GTX Go 40?
By turning the pod on the battery. It covers more or less of the air inlets at the top of the tube, for a tighter or more open draw.
Which GTX coil gives a tighter draw?
Values higher than the supplied 0.6 ohm, such as the 0.8 or 1.2 ohm, suit a mouth-to-lung draw. They are sold separately, and the battery adjusts its output to the value it reads.
Does the box include a spare coil?
No. The kit comes with a single GTX 0.6 ohm Mesh coil, packed outside the pod and to be fitted before the first fill. The next one comes from a pack of GTX coils, and the Luxe XR Max 2 pod shows how another Vaporesso pod handles its consumables.
Vaporesso GTX Go 40, choosing the tube with the parts in mind
Three parts decide the life of the kit, a coil to buy again, a pod to replace now and then and a battery that sets the overall lifespan. The 90-day warranty leaves out opened wear parts and does not spell out the case of a built-in battery, which is why the receipt and the box are worth keeping.
With a Vaporesso GTX Go 40, it is worth checking that GTX coils and the GTX Pod 22 remain easy to find, a habit worth keeping for every piece of hardware we cover on this site, from pods to the Vaporesso box mod range.
