Most reviews of the Innokin Gozee kit date from 2022. Since then, the manufacturer has brought out a successor, the Gozee NEX, which keeps the name, the output and the coils, but not the battery or the chassis. Anyone looking for this kit today therefore meets two devices under one label, and shop listings that do not always say which one they describe. Here is the full sheet for the original, then what the NEX really changes.

The Innokin Gozee kit in a few lines

The Innokin Gozee kit pairs a built-in 2100 mAh battery mod, adjustable from 6 to 60 W, with the GO Z+ tank, which takes the whole Z-Coil range. The manufacturer gives 73 g for the mod, a double-injection polycarbonate and ABS body, USB-C charging at 5 V and 2 A, and 13 colourways.

It is a simple kit with a single power mode, able to move from a tight draw to a looser one by changing coil. Its successor keeps that logic and bets on battery life and metal.

What comes in the box

Several retailers agree on the contents. You get the Gozee mod, the GO Z+ tank, two Z-Coils (0.8 ohm, fitted, and 0.3 ohm), two 510 mouthpieces, a USB-C cable and the manual.

The two mouthpieces match the two draw styles. The first, fitted at the factory, suits mouth-to-lung inhaling, known as MTL, where vapour sits in the mouth first. The second goes with restricted direct lung, known as RDL. Their standard 510 fitting also leaves room for a drip tip of your own.

The Gozee mod, one mode and three buttons

The chipset is stripped back on purpose. It only offers power adjustment in watts, with no temperature control or bypass mode.

The screen and the controls

On the front, the fire button sits above two adjustment keys, plus and minus. The screen shows the power, the coil resistance, a puff counter and the length of each puff, according to the matching listings of two retailers.

ActionControl
Switch on or off3 quick presses on the fire button
Adjust powerhold plus or minus
Lock or unlockhold fire and minus together

One retailer gives five presses to switch on rather than three. If the mod does not respond, try the other sequence and check the manual in the box.

Battery and charging

The built-in 2100 mAh battery is rated at 7.77 Wh at 3.7 V by the manufacturer. It charges through the USB-C port below the buttons, at 5 V and 2 A, with the cable supplied. Output voltage runs from 1.0 to 7.5 V, and the connector is a standard 510.

A built-in battery cannot be swapped. That is the trade-off for such a light format, and the point that separates the Gozee from a removable-cell mod of the kind our electronic box guide explains.

What the 1 to 7.5 V output allows

Voltage caps the power actually available with higher-resistance coils, since power equals voltage squared divided by resistance. At 7.5 V a 0.8 ohm coil could take more than 70 W, so the 60 W limit applies. Above roughly 0.94 ohm, voltage takes over. A 1.2 ohm coil tops out near 47 W, a 1.5 ohm near 37 W, and a 3.5 ohm, the top of the accepted range, near 16 W.

The GO Z+ tank and the Z coils

The kit’s whole character comes down to the tank and the coil fitted in it. Two points matter before buying, the real capacity of the UK version and the choice between the two coils supplied.

3.5 ml on paper, 2 ml in the UK

The manufacturer quotes 3.5 ml for the GO Z+, and 2 ml in markets that follow the Tobacco Products Directive limits. UK rules carry the same cap, so the version sold here holds 2 ml. Plenty of listings still repeat the 3.5 ml figure of the standard version.

The PCTG tank fills from the top by sliding the cap aside. The coil is changed from the base of the tank, where the airflow ring sits.

0.8 ohm or 0.3 ohm, two separate uses

The two coils in the box cover two vaping styles, with power ranges that two retailers give identically.

CoilPower rangeDraw
Z-Coil 0.8 ohm (fitted)15 to 18 WMTL and RDL
Z-Coil 0.3 ohm30 to 40 Wdirect, airier

The mod’s resistance range, from 0.2 to 3.5 ohms, takes the rest of the Z-Coil family. For a first session, the 0.8 ohm at 15 W is the simplest starting point, and the 0.3 ohm is best kept for liquids rich in vegetable glycerine, which are thicker. In the UK, nicotine e-liquid is capped at 20 mg/ml and sold in bottles of 10 ml or less, whichever coil you choose.

An airflow ring to set before screwing down

Two published reviews raise the same snag. The airflow ring at the base of the tank is hard to turn once the GO Z+ is screwed onto the mod. Set it before fitting the tank, or back the tank off slightly to turn it.

Innokin Gozee kit or Gozee NEX, battery life in minutes of firing

The Gozee NEX, presented by the manufacturer as the next step for the Gozee, keeps the 6 to 60 W range, Z-Coil compatibility and the sliding top fill. It moves to 3300 mAh, a zinc and aluminium alloy body, a colour screen and 4 colourways against 13, with an on-off switch underneath and a metal-reinforced airflow ring, a direct answer to the complaint about the GO Z+.

The manufacturer rates the Gozee battery at 7.77 Wh. Taking the same 3.7 V nominal voltage, the NEX’s 3300 mAh comes to about 12.2 Wh, 57 per cent more energy. Divided by the power set, that energy gives a theoretical firing time, summed over every puff between two charges and before conversion losses.

SettingGozee, 7.77 WhGozee NEX, about 12.2 Wh
0.8 ohm at 15 W31 minutes49 minutes
0.8 ohm at 18 W26 minutes41 minutes
0.3 ohm at 40 W12 minutes18 minutes

The table mostly shows that the coil weighs as much as the model. Moving from the 0.8 to the 0.3 ohm more than halves the firing time on either mod, a bigger gap than the one between the Gozee and the NEX at the same setting.

The manufacturer’s sheet for the NEX only quotes 3.5 ml for its tank. A tank sold in the UK is limited to 2 ml, so check the capacity printed on the packaging. The manufacturer does not give the NEX’s weight either, while it makes a point of the Gozee’s 73 g.

Our verdict is clear. The NEX wins for anyone who charges often and wants a sturdy body. The original Gozee keeps the edge on weight and choice of colours.

Who the Innokin Gozee kit suits

The Gozee is aimed first at the vaper who wants a light mod with no menu to learn, and a single tank that can move from MTL to RDL. Its Z coils are easy to find, and its 510 connector will take another tank later.

For use on the move, or a first step from a pod to a mod, it does the job. Anyone after more than 60 W or removable cells will look instead at the cell-powered models in our Vaporesso box mod comparison.

FAQ

These questions come up among people weighing the Gozee against another entry-level kit.

Does a fast charger refill the Gozee more quickly?

No. The manufacturer states a USB-C input of 5 V and 2 A, so 10 W at most. A more powerful adaptor still works, but the mod draws no more than it accepts. Charging should be supervised, on a clear surface.

Does the Gozee suit nicotine salts?

With the 0.8 ohm set between 15 and 18 W, yes, since that pairing sits in the tight-draw territory salts are made for. With the 0.3 ohm at 30 W and above, a low-strength freebase liquid fits better, as the vapour produced is far greater. In the UK, nicotine e-liquid is capped at 20 mg/ml either way.

What is the puff counter on the screen for?

It counts firings since the last reset. Its main use is as a guide to coil life, by noting the figure each time you change coil.

Does the Gozee NEX take the GO Z+ tank?

The manufacturer does not say so explicitly. Both mods share the 510 connector and the Z-Coil range, but the NEX is sold with its own tank, the GO Z NEX.

How can I tell whether a listing describes the Gozee or the NEX?

Look at the battery and the body. A listing with 2100 mAh and a clear plastic body describes the original Gozee, while 3300 mAh and a metal body point to the NEX. A UK listing should also show the 2 ml tank, the same cap our Vaporesso GTX One kit review follows on another kit.

Innokin Gozee kit, the right pick for your profile

The Innokin Gozee kit remains a coherent, light and simple kit whose Z coils cover most draw styles. Its limits are known, a 2100 mAh battery that cannot be replaced and an airflow ring that resists once screwed down.

The Gozee NEX fixes both points in exchange for a metal body and a smaller colour range. The choice therefore comes down to battery life and weight rather than flavour, since both share the same coils.

Setting an Innokin Gozee kit against its successor mainly shows that one name can cover two generations, a habit worth keeping for every piece of hardware we cover on this site.
